VoIP technology may transform freelance communications
Monday, 08 March 2010
Freelance consultants and contractors could increasingly use Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology as a means of carrying out their daily business affairs.

According to Ian Grayson, Technology Journalist at Hydrapinion, the format will soon become a ubiquitous part of modern communications. Regarding the question of whether VoIP will ever overtake traditional landlines, he stated: "VoIP will become the standard for all voice calls eventually."

Mr Grayson asserted that such technology can make financial sense to many, adding: "The savings can be significant."

He suggested that although calling rates can vary, it is possible to use VoIP in some markets for a few pence per minute.

The correspondent also noted that many consumers are unaware that potential savings can be made through this form of communication.

Meanwhile, freelancers who work from home may be interested by details of research from Point Topic, which found that VoIP subscriptions total 2.95 million users in the UK.
