Freelance copywriters with specialist skills should not only focus on the power of language to sell a product, it could also be said that having an eye for design is of the utmost importance. Dean Rieck, posting an article for Pro Copy Tips, suggested that placing a greater emphasis on the role of designers can inform the process behind copywriting. He stated: "Back in the day, copywriters thought that copy was the only thing that was important." Today, however, Mr Rieck claimed it is important to "get to know the designers you work with and treat them like the professionals they are". In addition, the correspondent hinted that it could be worthwhile to make a personal connection with a client in order for a project to run smoothly. One career approach for freelance copywriters might be to try their hand at a variety of writing styles, from journalism to blogging.
