PCG scheme certifies first contractor accountants

Four accountancy practices have been accredited under a new scheme introduced by the Professional Contractors Group (PCG) to help freelance consultants and contractors choose their accountants. Called PCG (QA), for "Quality Accountant", the scheme is designed to identify and promote accountants who have received additional training on contractor-specific tax and accounting issues and have a good understanding of how freelance businesses operate.

Mixed response from PCG to new HMRC compliance approaches

The Professional Contractors Group (PCG) has given a mixed response to a series of new compliance approaches announced by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) this week. The announcement follows HMRC�s publication of a consultation document, Modernising powers, deterrents and safeguards, to which PCG responded in June.
