PCG
HOSTS MEETING FOR TERMINAL
FIVE CONTRACTORS
An impromptu event organised
for Heathrow
Terminal Five (T5) contractors
by PCG member Clive Palmer
last week was well attended
and enthusiastically received.
PCG chairman Simon Juden presented
an overview of PCG as a trade
association and of the membership
benefits, and Dave Smith of
Accountax Consulting delivered
his legendary talk about IR35
and Section 660A.
These are just a few of the
comments from those who attended:
- "I've only been freelancing
for a couple of weeks,
so it was entirely relevant
for me. I will be signing
up over the next couple
of days!"
- "Thanks for the session
on Wednesday, I found
it extremely interesting
and helpful."
- "Thanks, I attended
the presentation yesterday
- it was excellent."
- "Thank you for organising
this. I did find it informative
and a worthwhile exercise."
This session was one of many
that PCG intends to host or
co-host around the country
during 2004. If you are interested
in attending a seminar in
your area, please register
your interest so that
PCG can assess the demand
in specific geographic locations.
About T5.
After the longest ever planning
enquiry, the T5 project was
given the go-ahead in November
2001, and is due to be completed
by 2006/2007. Heathrow is
the most important employment
centre in Europe with 68,000
people employed directly on-airport
and 245,000 jobs created nationally.
T5 will safeguard around 16,500
jobs and is expected to create
over 6,000 construction jobs
during the project lifecycle. T5
will comprise a core passenger
terminal building accompanied
by two satellite buildings,
to supplement Heathrow's four
existing terminals, and will
feature state-of-the-art facilities
as well as car parking, offices
and a hotel.
CALL FOR FREELANCER
SUCCESS STORIES
PCG is committed to promoting
freelancing as a valid and
valuable way of working, and
would like to hear about any
success stories and case studies
involving freelancers that
it can use in its marketing
campaigns. In particular,
quotations from senior managers
at client sites extolling
the virtues of freelancers
and the difference that they
make would be very welcome.
Please email your case stories
and quotations to Mandie
Bell.

Those members who have not
yet done so are requested

which is anonymous and should
take only ten minutes or so
to complete. It includes several
