18th February, 2000 - New Consitution and
on-line voting
Polling: Here
Background
In September 1999 the members of PCG voted that the Group should
continue beyond April 2000 and become a representative body
for independent contractors.
To this end, and to allow us to take the IR35 campaign forward
more effectively, we have drafted new articles of association.
All paid-up members of PCG are now asked to approve the new
rules.
The rules have been discussed at length on the PCG members
forums:

New Rules
In summary, the effect of the new articles would be:
- PCG will remain a non-profit company limited by guarantee,
with no share capital.
- All those with up to date subscriptions will be elegible
to become Members (in the full legal sense), of Professional
Contractors Group Limited. As a full Member of PCG LTD you
will be entitled to stand for and vote in its elections, and
take part in the Group's decison-making processes.
- The Members will elect a Consultative Council of 30.
- The Consultative Council will elect a chairman and appoint
directors to run the company.
- Most business will be conducted over the internet, with
procedures to allow Members to call an on-line vote.
Timetable
The timetable is as follows:
- Final draft of the new rules to be posted Friday 18 February.
- Members to vote on the new rules 19/20/21 February. If
