6th February, 2001 - Letter to PM, BBC Radio Scotland

Letter to PM
Following criticism of IR35 from the Treasury Select Committee, PCG Chairman Gareth Williams has written to the Prime Minister urging him to take personal charge of the matter. The Treasury Select Committee criticised the Treasury for failing to consult when implementing IR35 an unfair and inefficient piece of legislation. Gareths letter, and the PCGs stance, have been widely reported in the press.

Portal advice dealing with agencies
Agencies have been quick to take advantage of the benefits offered by the Portal. Ultimately the aim of the Portal is to secure business-to-business contracts (ie outside IR35) for members, but at present not all agents fully understand this aim. We have added guidelines for agents searching Portal profiles and some ideas for PCG members on how to respond if an agent approaches you via the Portal, if you are not interested in the work.
