Delay to IR35 Appeal
The Court of Appeal hearing in PCGs judicial review of
IR35 has been put back to Tuesday 4 December 2001. The hearing
is expected to last three days.
The Appeal was due 19th November but the IRs legal team
has other commitments. Having argued strongly that the hearing
should take place, the PCG team reluctantly accepted the
change.
The PCG is again setting up an office in the Cheshire Cheese,
5 Little Essex Street, London W1 for the duration of the
appeal. All members are welcome to call in. https://www.pcgroup.org.uk/threads/showpost.pl?f=PCGbusiness-8972&p;=0&v;=c&s;=5
First IR35 case at commissioners "Battersby"
In the first IR35 case to go before the Special Commissioners,
contractor Eddie Battersby was found to be in deemed
employment and subject to IR35. For a full PCG analysis
of this decision from PCGS Director, Kevin Miller: https://www.pcgroup.org.uk/threads/showpost.pl?f=legalandaccount-40&p;=0&v;=c&s;=5

CFT
Members will be aware that for some time PCG officials
have been monitoring the activities of CFT Group Insurance
Services. Kevin Miller contacted Lloyds of London who issued
a press release. Lloyds are concerned that a number of
commercial insurance policies naming Lloyds are now known
to have been sold by CFT without cover having been arranged.
