1. Improved PCG Tax Helpline
Ignorance is no longer an excuse!
The PCG Tax Helpline gives you direct access to a team of tax
consultants covering all disciplines and specialities of UK
taxation. The service is designed to deal with specific queries
as quickly and efficiently as possible.
In the event of any contact whatsoever from the Inland Revenue
or any tax related issue that isnt clear, the first thing to
do is dial 01455 852035 and ask an expert.
This service is free to PCG members.
The PCG Tax Helpline operates under the following conditions:
- The PCG Tax Helpline is operated on our behalf by Qdos
Consulting.
- Hours of business will be 0900-1700 normal working days.
- Response will be immediate for simple queries. Complex
queries will vary, but will usually be addressed by the end
of next working day.
- Simple queries should only take a few minutes to answer,
complex queries may require further discussion, but the initial
scene-setting call should be less than 15 minutes.
- Members can use the helpline as often as they wish, within
reason! In the event that Qdos believe that a caller is persistently
misusing the service PCG will arbitrate.
- The phone number is dedicated to PCG and will indicate
to Qdos that the call is for the PCG Tax Helpline, but it
is routed via the main Qdos exchange and we do not expect
that this is ever likely to result in a persistent engaged
tone.
- PCG and Qdos will regularly review the volume and nature
of calls and the service will be tuned accordingly. Comments,
positive or negative, will be taken into account when reviewing
the system.
Memorise the number now!

2. PCG to take part in Interactive Web Cast on Outsourcing
and Security
Philip Ross, PCG Policy Advisor, will appear on a live interactive
web cast from the BBC Television Centre between 12 noon and
2pm on Friday 28 June on a panel addressing IT outsourcing and
security.
The discussion will be chaired by Computer Weekly's editor,
Karl Schneider, and will feature other industry representatives
including: Clive Hyland of Pink Roccada, a European ICT Services
provider; Paul Bingham of Atos Origin Ltd., an IT and eBusiness
solutions company; David Rippon of Elite, the IT Directors'
Forum within the British Computer Society; and David Taylor
of Certus UK, an Association of IT Directors.
You can e-mail your potential questions in advance by visiting

3. Claims against CFT Group Insurance Services
PCG members who bought an insurance policy from CFT Group Insurance
Services in 2000 or 2001 can look at the PCGs guidance on how
to make a claim against CFT through the small claims court at
www.pcgroup.org.uk/threads/showpost.pl?f=Notice-439
4. Professional Indemnity Cover for North American Risks
Members who do business in North America and who have bought
the PCG discounted Professional Indemnity insurance from Randell
Dorling will have noted that the policy does not cover risks
in this area. However, the PCG has now agreed a clause for members
to include in their contracts or terms and conditions of sale
which will enable PCG members with exposure in North America
to be covered by the PCG PI Policy normal rates, subject always
to the other terms and conditions of the Policy. Go to
