1. PCG Annual Conference and AGM

The PCG Annual Conference and AGM is taking place this year at Wokefield Park outside Reading on Saturday 9th November 2002.

This year the conference is being organised by a specialist event management company and a very strong programme of events is being prepared.

More details will be released once we have the speakers confirmed. The cost for the event is 100 +VAT for the conference. There is also a dinner in the evening with a live band and guest speaker which costs 45 +VAT per head.

This is a great opportunity to find out more about the organisation, to find ways of progressing your business and to meet your colleagues in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.

2. E-vent 2.002

PCG is taking a stand at the E-vent 2.002 exhibition
( http://www.event2002.biz )
on Thursday 10th October at the Sheffield Arena.

This is a heavyweight event with circa 100 exhibitors, ranging from one-man bands to Microsoft, pitching to a target of approximately 2,000 clients, ranging in size from 5+ employees to Blue Chip organisations. PCG is exhibiting and would be happy to hear from members who would like to join us on the stand.

You can find out more and post your own details on our discussion board:

3. Lime-IT - Going to the Commissioners

Lisa Fernley has a date for her Commissioners hearing. Her case will be heard at the Special Commissioners in London on the 2nd of October 2002 and she will be represented by PCG Associates Accountax. PCG have a longstanding agreement to fund this stage of the case and you therefore have an interest in the outcome. We’ll be arranging a venue for supporters to meet and greet Lisa at the end of the first of two very important days in the life of her business.

4. Accountax Win Again

In our previous newsletter we announced a “technical” IR35 victory by PCG Associates Accountax at a Commissioners hearing. This week we can tell you that Accountax have just received formal notification of an outright win in another case that they presented at the General Commissioners last week. This is real landmark in the campaign to provide contractors with clarity when dealing with IR35 and we hope shows that the tide is beginning to turning in favour of common sense.

5. MAD 4 IT day October 12th 2002

MAD 4 IT day is a Business in the Community initiative to help bridge the digital divide. The revolution in information and communication technologies (ICT) offers new ways to develop community, to learn and grow as individuals and to become more efficient as voluntary / community organisations and businesses. Access to this technology is not equal yet bridging this “digital divide” is in everyone’s interest. This day will be the launch of / linked in with a 6 week festival period to get the UK Online!

The PCG is pleased to be involved with this initiative and is looking for members who are willing to volunteer to offer a day of their time to help on the various events being organised around the country. If you would like to get involved then please send an email to [email protected] with your name, location and what you can help with.

6. Route35

Sales of PCG's Route35 scheme continue apace. Over 800 discerning PCG members have now taken it up. If you want to know just why they've found it so attractive then follow this link

7. Contracting Matters

Since we announced incentives for distributing Contracting Matters last week, we've had a few good ideas but we need more. The target is to ensure that every contractor has the chance to read a copy, whether they are current PCG members or simply future prospects.

Is your agent, accountant, solicitor, etc. prepared to distribute to their clients? Can you leave a hundred at your local Chamber of Commerce? As an incentive we're offering free tickets to PCG's annual conference for the most productive ideas. Categories will be and there may be a few discretionary prizes for other outstanding efforts:

* Most copies hand delivered by an individual
* Best lead

Email [email protected] with your ideas. No timewasters please, we will be checking your local tip and the referee's decision is final.
