Issue 27; 2 November 1999
Final details: Mass Lobby of House of Commons
Meeting 1430 until 1500. Jubilee Room
To clarify; this is a meeting organised by the Conservatives
to which we have been invited to say a few words. There
may also be some other speakers, as well as the press in
attendance. Be aware that it is likely to be a scrum getting
into the meeting as other Groups and companies have been
telling people to come. We have emailed the 100 who registered
on the internet form with separate instructions.
Lobby your MP
For us this is the main point of the day. This is the chance
to come and have your say to your representative. As this
is a key bill the House will be full. Your MP will be there.
Even if you have not written you can "green card" your MP
on the day. There will be no guarantee that they will come
out to see you, but if they fail to do so we will ensure
that their local media is alerted to this fact. Whatever
the Party of your MP, get "on your bike" and get to Westminster.
Lobbying can take place from 2:30 PM until 10:00 PM.
Information on how to "green card" your MP can be found
at:

Meeting points
We have booked W1 (a smaller room at the House of Commons)
from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM. David Hopkins will be holding
the fort and after you have met (or not) with your MP, come
up and report your discussion. Myself, Andy White, Susie
Hughes and Kevin Miller will be in and around during this
time. We have also invited Dawn Primarolo to attend so that
she can talk to the "person at the sharp end" for a change.
As yet she has not responded.
For those arriving early and for a central point for Contractors
to meet up, we have booked a function room downstairs at
the Red Lion. A well-known Whitehall Pub, it is 5 minutes
walk from the House of Commons. It is on Parliament Street
going towards Trafalgar Square, opposite the Treasury. (If
DP cannot meet us in W1 maybe she will join us for a drink!)
This is booked from 12:00 until 3:30 and then from 5:30
until 11:00 PM. (The main bar is open all day.) The room
only takes 40, but the weather forecast looks good and we
can always spill over into the street.
Look forward to seeing you
Kind regards
David Ramsden
