What is a Fringe Meeting? |
The main party conferences are about to begin. Just like the
Edinburgh Festival there is a fringe too. At the Edinburgh Festival
the main event is the Military, the fringe is all the theatre
and shows throughout the city.
At party conferences, the main event is the conference hall itself,
with the delegates representing every constituency and affiliated
organisations. Outside the hall are the fringe meetings. MP's
and Ministers attend and speak at such meetings. It represents
a good opportunity for organisations and companies to put forward
there case and their issues to the party as a whole and influence
thinking and policy making.
The PCG have organised a 'fringe meeting' entitled 'The Case
for Freelancers, small business and the self-employed'. Our aim
is to try and get our message across to the Labour movement as
a whole. We are on a mission to educate clients, government and
political parties about the importance of freelance workers and
small service businesses. This is the start of that process.
For the meeting to be success we want to get as many people as
possible to the meeting, so please write or email your MP (if
you need their address contact us) and urge them to attend our
meeting. If you live in the Brighton area, please come along,
we want to show off the strength of feeling that there is and
the support that the PCG has.
