Much of the good work done during
2003 will have been invisible to members, as PCG concentrated on
the persuasiveness of its ideas rather than simply measuring column
inches of press.
High points included PCG’s victory at the International Labour
Organisation (ILO) in defeating the “dependent contractor”
proposal, success in the reduction of the number of work permits
issued and the exclusion of “high-value” contractors
from the DTI’s newly-published Agency Regulations.
These are just a few of the achievements that PCG attained during
2003:
- Attained ISO9001 certification
- Secured victory at the ILO in defeating the dependent contractor
proposal
- Successfully lobbied for the opt-out clause for incorporated
freelancers in DTI's new Agency Regulations
- Continued to support members' cases - current status 420 cases
won versus 1 "lost"
- Engaged leading QC in first S660A case
- Forged relationships with complementary organisations including
CBI and BCS
- Forged relationships with unions including Amicus and UNIFI
- Participated in All Party Parliamentary Small Business Group
(APPSBG) consultation on freelancing
